Low-Light Indoor Plants
How to Water Indoor Plants Correctly

The Core Rule
Water thoroughly, then let the top of the soil dry before the next drink. "Little and often" is the most common mistake.
The Soak
Pour until water runs from the drainage hole, then empty the saucer. This wets the whole root ball evenly.
When to Water
- Finger test -- if the top 2–3 cm is dry, water.
- Pot weight -- a light pot means dry soil.
- Plant signals -- peace lily and fittonia droop when thirsty.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Should I mist?
A:
Only humidity-lovers, and mist the air, not as a substitute for watering roots.
Q: Tap water okay?
A:
Usually, but let it sit so chlorine off-gasses; some plants dislike softened water.
Q: How do I fix salty soil?
A:
Flush the pot with plenty of plain water every few months.
