Succulent Care
Overwintering Succulents Indoors

Why a Rest?
Most succulents slow right down in winter. Less light and cooler air signal dormancy -- and dormancy is when they are happiest with almost no water.
The Routine
- Water barely -- once every 4–8 weeks, just enough to stop shrivelling.
- Keep cool -- 50–60°F (10–15°C) if you can; a cool room or windowsill is ideal.
- Maximise light -- the brightest window you have.
- Stop fertilising until spring growth resumes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My plant is wrinkling -- is it dying?
A:
Probably just thirsty from dormancy; a small drink plumps it back.
Q: Can I keep them under a grow light all winter?
A:
Yes, if you keep water and feed low to mimic rest.
Q: Should I move them indoors?
A:
Hardy sempervivum can stay out; tender echeveria and aloe come in.
