Plant Pests & Diseases
Saving a Plant After a Pest Outbreak

Step 1 -- Isolate Immediately
Move the plant away from everything. Pests travel fast.
Step 2 -- Remove What You Can
Wipe leaves, snip the worst-hit foliage, and wash the pot rim. Physical removal matters as much as spraying.
Step 3 -- Treat on a Schedule
Neem oil or insecticidal soap every 5–7 days for three weeks. Mark it on the calendar so you stay consistent.
Step 4 -- Help It Recover
After the pests are gone, give the plant bright indirect light and hold off fertiliser until you see new growth. Trim only fully dead material; yellow-but-alive leaves still feed the plant.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Should I repot?
A:
Only if the soil is infested or soggy. Otherwise a good top-dressing change is enough.
Q: How do I know it is winning?
A:
New, clean growth and no live pests for two weeks running.
Q: Can I save a bare plant?
A:
Often yes -- many plants regrow from the base or a stem if the roots survive.
Recovery is patient work. Our pest identifier helps you name the culprit so the treatment is right.
